The Bale Mountains
The gallery is the photographic report of a scientific expedition carried out in June 2009 in the Bale Mountains of Ethiopia, with a special focus on the herpetofauna of the Harenna forest. The expedition was the result of the collaboration between Dr. Simon Loader of the University of Basel, Dr. David Gower of the Natural History Museum of London, Dr. Rafael de Sá of the University of Richmond. Mr. Abebe Ameha Mengistu and myself. During the expedition we had the chance to document very poorly known species like the Ericabatrachus baleensis, the Balebreviceps hillmani and the Altiphrynoides malcolmi and to find few new species to science. The Harenna forest is a unique place with an unique fauna of great conservation concern.
